About Cosmic Volunteers
Cosmic Volunteers is a US-based non-profit organization that offers
volunteer and internship programs abroad in Bolivia, China,
Ecuador,
Ghana,
Guatemala,
India,
Kenya,
Nepal,
Peru, the
Philippines,
South Africa,
Thailand,
Uganda,
and Vietnam.
With home offices in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Cosmic Volunteers
sends hundreds of volunteers abroad each year to volunteer and intern
at schools, hospitals, newspapers, orphanages, HIV/AIDS clinics,
women's groups, and other organizations who ask us for assistance.
Our volunteers are mostly from the US, Canada, and Europe, from
all walks of life, and range in age from high school to retirees.
Most programs do not require special skills or experience, just
an open mind and a desire to reach out to those in need in non-western
countries.
Cosmic Volunteers was founded in 2001 by American Scott Burke who
volunteered as a teacher in rural Nepal. Cosmic Volunteers began
by offering volunteer programs in Nepal but has since established
ongoing programs on several continents.
Cosmic Volunteers is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, with
all program fees tax-deductible for US taxpayers. We are not affiliated
with any government or religious organizations. We receive 100%
of our funding from the program fees paid by our volunteers.
