Country
India is one of our most popular volunteer destinations. With a population of over 1 billion and an incredible variety of landscape, culture, and peoples, India is a fascinating place to become immersed in the local community. India is a parliamentary democracy that gained independence from Britain in 1947. English and Hindi are the official languages. Cosmic Volunteers has been sending volunteers to India since 2003. Cosmic's founder Scott Burke has visited India three times.

Location
This Two-Week Winter Break in India is based in the town of Bangalore in south India. Bangalore is the capital of the Karnataka state and India's fourth largest city (6.1 million). Most foreign visitors, including our participants, arrive in Bangalore by air, at the Bangalore International Airport. Many airlines have direct flights to Bangalore, while the city is well-connected by air and train to the Indian cities Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai.
