For vaccination advice, we follow the official guidelines of Centers for Disease Control.
The only host country that requires any vaccinations is Ghana for Yellow Fever.
Make sure you are up-to-date with routine vaccinations like MMR, DPT, and polio.
Health care volunteers should strongly consider Hepatitis B vaccination because of their exposure to body fluids / blood.
There is no one-size-fits-all schedule for the administration of vaccinations to travelers going abroad. Each vaccination schedule must be personalized according to an individual’s immunization history, the country(s) to be visited, the type of program you will do, the duration of travel, and the amount of time available before departure.
Consult a travel medicine doctor at least two months before your departure, in order to allow sufficient time for the immunization schedules to be completed.
Travelers outside the US should consult with their government’s traveler’s health agency:
- UK: Department of Health
- Canada: Public Health Agency
- Australia: Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
