Volunteer in Peru

Our volunteer programs in Peru take place in Lima and Cusco and include orphanage, medical, teaching, and community kitchens volunteer work. Most of our volunteers live and volunteer in Lima (pop.8 million), the capital of Peru.

Peru is a democratic republic in South America with a population of about 20 million. It is a geographically diverse country encompassing the highlands of the Andes, the jungles of the Amazon rain forest, and the Coastal Desert.

The locations for our volunteering programs in Peru include the capital city Lima, as well as Cusco. Lima is the most popular location in Peru for our programs there (international flights arrive here). For Cusco, you can reach there from Lima by either a 90-minute flight or a grueling 20-hour bus ride (we do not recommended this for personal- and driving-safety reasons).

At least beginner’s Spanish is recommended for our volunteer programs in Peru. Although some of our volunteers arrive in Peru as absolute beginners and still enjoy the experience immensely, it still helps a great deal to be able to communicate at a basic level when you arrive there. We can arrange for private Spanish lessons in Peru, typically for $8-$12 per hour.
